Many of us as working professionals, we stay at least 8 hours in the office and some cases, we stay more than 5 days a week especially when we are chasing deadlines. Some may even say we spend more than in the office compared to their own home. Following with the current trend, many companies start to pay more attention to their office pantry. Why? For some, it’s a place for office gathering to boost morale, encourage collaboration and impress clients. But, little did they know a well-stocked pantry can actually boost employees’ productivity.


In a recent study, 57% of working professionals buy their own snacks and beverages at work. Not limiting to that, one in two respondents reported leaving the office at least once a day and some as many as five times a day for a coffee or snack run outside of office.

These are not unproductive employees. These are just hungry employees finding their own way through food and beverages to focus better at work. Why food? Scientifically, glucose level will decrease when a person is hungry which a balanced glucose level will ensure a person’s focus and attention to detail.

Although, emotional eating is not encouraged but eating the right amount and the right food will provide a mood boost when its needed. Work space could be stressful at times and having snack options will help employees to cope with their stress level.

According to Inc. Magazine, 60% of working professionals mentioned having free snacks in the office makes them feel “valued and appreciated”. After all, the littlest things matter, right?
